SK — Ross School to Become an Office Building
August 23rd, 2011
An old school will come back to life as an office building.
Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan — For four years now, Ross School has remained empty and quiet, awaiting renovation. Betchar Holdings, who purchased the property overlooking the Hillcrest Golf course, will soon convert it into a commercial office building and put it back to life."The exterior of the building has to remain as it is but actually it'll be restored to its original condition," says David Anderson, architect for the renovation project. "We will be honouring the heritage aspect of the building."
Some of the windows that were bricked over will be opened up again. Additional windows will be installed in the gymnasium. Anderson adds that they are aiming for LEED Silver certification for energy efficiency.
Renovations will start by the end of the year. A lot of empty land around Ross School will be used for additional buildings. With the nearby golf course, Betchar Holdings is planning to create a residential neighbourhood. The development of 14 residential lots in the area has been approved by the City Council.
